Angela Merkel's Headquarters expresses its power from an authority standpoint. The hierarchical compilation of her buildings forms a sense bureaucratic power. This presents a strong representation of power as it stands high over the surronding enviroment, almost like a castle. The fence secures the perimeter.

View from inside Angela Merkel's elevator. This elevator expresses power through a solid industrial like form, the platform moves diagonally upwards to her headquarters.

Miranda Kerr's elevator is lowered. The platform is circular, as this symbolizes her as the center of attention when she travels down it, almost as if she would have a photo shoot on it. The stair case follows her theme of elegance while having a snake form.

The Dining Table end nearer to the camera is Angela Merkel's position, if she sat down she would have a 180 degree table space around her. This communicates a sence of control and authority as the left and right barriers represent power. Miranda Kerr's table space on the opposite end expands to a cirlce, almost looking like a dish that represents her as the center on attention.

Miranda Kerr's power is represented by the seductive nature of her headquarters. Her essence of power comes from beauty, in this manner her rooftops coil to present an appealing flow for the eye, while almost looking like a snake thats about to pounce on its prey, this subtely gives her the power and awe through the architecture.

The valley picture above had given me some inspiration to what could be a concept for my draft. The wall (along the green line) looks like a barrier between two valley edges and which could have a bridge running along it and the plateau (red circle) is where the dining area could be, this being a vantage height over the rest of the valley (but being still in the valley).

Catwalk beauty Miranda Kerr bares her curvy body for the cover of Rolling Stone magazine Australia's upcoming Green Issue in a bid to raise awareness about the environment, most notably the dangers faced by koalas. EXP2 FINAL - 5 Real Time Image Captures

Nicole Kuepper's science lab is towards the camera, the rectangular form was inspired by the oven bake solar panel idea. I opened up the roof of the prism on top of the hill to give a 'generation of heat' from the sun as it is exposed from the top and sides.

Charles Darwins science lab forms a similar shape to Nicoles' lab's form as his idea includes an evolution from one 'species' to another. The rectangles seem to adapt to the mountain shape while looking similar to Nicoles building.

The ramp follows down from the top of the hill. Alternateively one could create access from the lower prism that connects from inside the mountain. The meeting point area situates beside the river between both science labs.

I found that the shadow can play an important feature during different periods of the day. This slide showed me that an area 'of refuge' can be created depending on the primary light's (or sun's) angle. To relate back on experiment 2, I would include the element of the sun as an influencing factor on the postion of the boxes. The amalgamation of rectangles would have a purpose above as well as serving another purpose below over the scientists meeting point.

Overview of the stair below. As Ricky Swallow's theme was carved wood, the balustrade included a well finished wood railing. The describing word was complexity, so I designed the handrail connection to be intricate.

The vents form a circle around the skylight above. This angle also displays the glass viewing area from the landing just before the gallery floor.

Although I felt that the spiral staircase worked for 'complexity', the stairs were rejected as the artist would have had difficulty in transporting his artwork from the workspace up to the gallery.

Sydney skyline at night

This photo was taken from my balcony in Haymarket. It captures a low cloud forming a blanket over the city. This creates a beautiful enhanced luminosity around the neon lights inside the cloud. Below the cloud the visibility was very clear, this gave a sense of grandeur and mystery as the building tops disappear into a dark sky.

GREAT PIECE OF ARCHITECTURE

Macquarie Bank, 1 Shelley St, Sydney.

The bank constructed by Brookfield Multiplex is a 6 Star energy rating building (highest possible rating in Australia). The first noticeable feature is the unique diagonal grid surrounding the perimeter, called a 'diagrid'. The diagrid acts as the primary support for the building - removing the need for vertical columns (inside and outside), creating an open spacious feel for each level. One of the many interesting features that have given this office building the highest energy rating was the computerized 'daylight havesting' system that allows lights to dim depending on outside lighting. The design makes use of the Harbour water and uses a passive chilled beam technology for heat reduction.

The Paint Rack

Not just your regular 'spice rack' with paints, each paint pot is placed snuggly into its own compartment, this securely holds all bottles even when tilted up to 70 degress in any direction. The rack features a smaller hole designed for slimmer paint pots (the Vallejo brand) shown on the third row - the slim orange bottle is securely held as it passes through a small hole in the platform that supports the wider bottle. If one views the paint rack from front they will notice that the bottles are positioned in a zig-zag, this opens the view to each paint pot without the paints in front covering the view. The open window design for each compartment enhances colour picking and sorting. Brush holders and side windows are included for ease of use. The Paint Rack is also expandable by connecting it side by side to other racks.
